In the Harry Potter franchise, these characters are somewhat consistent with the public interpretation of the centaur as gifted archers. Centaurs live in the Forbidden Forest on the grounds of Hogwarts School and are considered somewhat precognitive. These forest dwellers are still highly controversial albeit the allies of many magical folks. They are very prideful and quick to anger. As demonstrated in the story, it is recommended that on never disrespect a centaur, lest you become the target of their allied contempt.
